About connecting ChatGPT đ¤
Givebutter has an official plugin listed in ChatGPT's directory. Because it's a pre-built connection, there's nothing to configure manually. You'll connect it directly from ChatGPT's settings and sign in with your existing Givebutter credentials. Once connected, you can ask ChatGPT questions about your account the same way you'd ask a colleague, and it'll answer using your organization's live data.
Your Givebutter password is never shared with ChatGPT.
How it works đ
Givebutter shows up as a ready-made plugin in ChatGPT. You don't need to enter any technical details.
Connecting redirects you to Givebutter's sign-in page, where you choose which account to authorize if you belong to more than one.
Once authorized, ChatGPT can read your account's live data (contacts, transactions, recurring plans, pledges, campaigns, teams, auctions, and messages sent) to answer your questions.
Connect ChatGPT to your account đ
Open ChatGPT and go to Plugins. On the desktop version, this is located under the Settings menu.
Search for Givebutter, and click Install plugin.
On the ChatGPT authorization screen, click Continue to Givebutter.
You'll be redirected to Givebutter to sign in. Log in with your usual Givebutter credentials.
On the ChatGPT authorization screen, you'll see a list of information shared with ChatGPT. If you have access to more than one Givebutter account, choose which one this connection should use. Click Authorize ChatGPT to connect.
Once authorized, Givebutter appears as a connected source in ChatGPT.
Ask a question đŹ
Once connected, ask ChatGPT a question in plain language. Some examples include:
"How much did we raise in the last 30 days?"
"Show me my top 10 recurring donors this year."
"Find contacts in California who gave more than $500."
"Break down donations by campaign for Q1."
ChatGPT reads your account and answers directly. You don't need to log into the Givebutter dashboard at all.
Disconnect ChatGPT âšď¸
To disconnect, remove the Givebutter plugin from your ChatGPT settings. Access stops right away, and there's nothing to action in your Givebutter account.

What data can ChatGPT access?
ChatGPT can access the data in the Givebutter account you connect: contacts, transactions, campaigns, recurring plans, and more. It can only see what your own Givebutter login can see.
What can ChatGPT do in my account?
ChatGPT works with the same access as your Givebutter login and only within the permissions granted to the connection. It can never move money or process payments, and you can disconnect at any time.
How does authentication work?
You connect by signing in to your Givebutter account through OAuth. Your Givebutter password is never shared with ChatGPT, the connection is scoped to a single account, and each teammate authorizes their own connection.
Is my data used to train AI models?
Conversations in ChatGPT, including any Givebutter data it retrieves, are handled according to OpenAI's privacy policy and the data controls on your ChatGPT plan. See OpenAI's privacy policy for details.
How do I disconnect?
You can disconnect anytime. In ChatGPT, open Settings, find Givebutter under your connected apps/plugins, and remove it. You can reconnect later by signing in again.
