Givebutter makes it dead-simple to scan tickets, check-in attendees, and assist your attendees on the day of the event. Every attendee is emailed a PDF ticket from Givebutter after purchasing, which they can easily print or display on their phone for quick access to the event.
Tickets have two unique identifiers on them:
- QR code â this is what you'll be scanning (see "Ticket Scanning")
- Shortcode â 5-digit code you can use to quickly lookup and verify tickets via the dashboard (see "Check-ins & Troubleshooting")
How Ticket Scanning WorksÂ
Our Ticket Scanning QR Codes work seamlessly with CodeReadr, the leader in mobile ticket scanning. Using CodeReadr, youâll be able to seamlessly check-in guests right from a mobile app on your Android, iPhone, or iPad. Large event? Multiple devices? Offline syncing? No problem â CodeReadr has got you covered.
Note: if you want scanned tickets on CodeReadr to automatically sync with Givebutter as having âchecked inâ, please contact us so we can help you get set up. To ensure accuracy and reliable connectivity, scanned tickets (check-ins) will be automatically synced to our system every two rolling minutes.
Each ticketâs QR Code contains unique, embedded check-in data. When you use the CodeReadr app to scan the QR Code on an attendeeâs ticket (print or digital), that data is accessed and the ticket is checked-in automatically.Â
Ta-da, itâs like magic! â¨
Everyone Skips the LineÂ
Attendee check-in using Ticket Scanning is the easiest and fastest way to get guests through the door and into your event.Â
With Ticket Scanning, attendees can whip out their smartphones and present their QR Code for a lightning-fast check-in experience. Printed tickets work the same way, aim the CodeReadr app at the QR code on their ticket and send them right inside!
No one wants to wait outside, so we designed a check-in experience thatâs smooth as butter. đ
Secure, Systematic & AccurateÂ
As mentioned above, every ticket has a 5-digit shortcode which you can use to quickly lookup and verify tickets via the Dashboard. This tab can be accessed by logging into your Dashboard and clicking on the "Tickets" tab in your left sidebar.Â
You can manually check-in attendees by clicking on "Check in", without having to scan their ticket. Once someone is checked-in, the column changes to a green checkmark. â
If youâve contacted us to enable automatic syncing between CodeReadr and Givebutter, you can expect the systems to communicate on a rolling two-minute basis to avoid potential duplicates, improve accuracy, and reduce the likelihood of connectivity issues.
Note: If you aren't able to access this information, it is likely because you haven't been added to the account as an admin or editor.
Troubleshooting
Dashboard check-ins and the 5-digit short code lookup can come in handy for these common scenarios:Â
âOh shoot, I forgot my ticket!â Never fear, you can also search attendees by name, email, or phone number right in your Dashboard to check them in manually.Â
âError: this ticket has already been scanned!â If a QR Code is scanned after a guest has already been checked-in, CodeReadr will produce an error message. This can happen when a guest purchases multiple tickets and accidentally prints or digitally presents the same one for multiple people in their party. A quick reference to your Dashboard will confirm how many tickets were purchased and allow you to complete the check-in swiftly. Â
