To set up a custom domain, you must first purchase or have access to Givebutter Premium. For information on Givebutter Premium, or to upgrade your account, please contact us via live chat or email us at [email protected].
1. Choose a subdomain
A subdomain is a separate domain name that acts as a part of your main domain. For example, "give.example.org". The "give" in this instance is what's known as a CNAME alias. We recommend using a subdomain such as "give", "support", or "impact". But this can be anything you'd like it to be.
2. Create a CNAME record
First, sign in to your DNS provider and visit the DNS settings section of your account. Create a CNAME record using the subdomain of your choice and point it to "cname.givebutter.com". For example:
Alias Type Location / Points to
give CNAME cname.givebutter.com
For DNS provider-specific instructions, see the FAQ at the bottom of this article.
3. Contact Givebutter Support
Once you've added your CNAME record to your DNS provider, contact Givebutter Support to finalize the setup process with your account. Please include the subdomain you've chosen in step 1.
