About the integration 📣
Givebutter’s Meta fundraising integration makes social giving seamless by automatically adding a donate button, campaign image, and live progress bar to Facebook or Instagram posts that include a Givebutter campaign link.
This powerful, free feature helps verified nonprofit accounts boost conversions with fewer clicks, reduce donor drop-off, and engage supporters more effectively. Each post looks professional and trustworthy, with consistent branding and visible goals, and every donation is tracked in your Givebutter dashboard for full visibility and management.
How it works 🔍
Your nonprofit must be approved for Meta’s Fundraising Tools before you can use this integration. You’ll also need a Facebook Page and a professional Instagram account linked to that Page. Apply here →
Your organization must also have a verified nonprofit account on Givebutter.
When you share a Givebutter campaign link on Facebook or Instagram, Meta will automatically add:
A Donate button
The campaign image (cover photo)
A real‑time progress bar
Donors who click the Donate button are linked to Givebutter to complete their transaction.
Every donation made syncs seamlessly into your Givebutter dashboard, and donor information is logged like all other donations on the platform.
✅ Works with: Facebook posts, Instagram Stories, and your Instagram profile
❌ Does not work with: Instagram static feed posts, Reels, or Lives
Apply for Meta Fundraising Tools 📫
Before you can use this integration, you must:
Be approved for Meta’s Fundraising Tools. To apply, you must submit additional information about your nonprofit, such as name, address, tax ID, and leadership details. Apply here →
Have a Facebook Page and a professional Instagram account (recommended) linked to that Facebook Page.
The approval process can take up to 2-3 weeks. Meta manages this process, and Givebutter unfortunately cannot expedite approval.
Using the integration 📱
As long as your nonprofit is approved for Meta’s Fundraising Tools, the integration works automatically when you share your Givebutter campaign links on Facebook or Instagram (except static Instagram feed posts). You don't need to install anything to use this integration, and it works with all campaign types on Givebutter.
When you share a campaign link: | What donors see: | What donors can do: |
Facebook post or Instagram Story
| Donate button, campaign image, and progress bar | Donate with fewer clicks since they don't need to leave the app! |
Static Instagram feed post | No enhanced donation button | Standard link behavior: Click → redirect to campaign |
When you share a campaign on Instagram, you'll be asked if you also want to add the campaign to your Instagram profile page. This includes a link to the campaign, as well as the campaign progress (ie, "$100 raised of $500").
FAQ 🤔
How do I apply for Meta’s Fundraising Tools?
You can apply directly through Meta. To be eligible, your organization needs a Facebook Page.
Are there any fees to use the Meta integration?
Meta does not charge fees to use this integration! Donors who click your Donate button and complete a donation will go through the same checkout flow as donors on your regular Givebutter campaign page accessed via an internet browser.
Does Meta collect donor information through this integration?
Meta's role in this integration (via Facebook or Instagram) is linking your followers to your Givebutter campaigns. Processing doesn't take place on Facebook or Instagram, and the checkout process is handled by Givebutter.
Why doesn’t the Donate button appear on static Instagram feed posts, Reels, or Lives?
Meta's enhanced fundraising tools only support Instagram Story posts, and on your Instagram profile. Static Instagram feed posts, Reels, and Lives do not currently work with this integration.
Can I use the Meta fundraising integration if I'm a fiscally-sponsored organization?
Yes, but the connection must be made manually by our team. Please contact [email protected] for assistance.
Are donations made via social media tracked in Givebutter?
Yes. Every donation made through Meta-enhanced posts is tracked in your Givebutter dashboard and synced with your CRM, just like any other gift.
What happens if our nonprofit isn’t approved for Meta fundraising yet?
The Donate button and other enhancements won’t appear on your social posts until approved. Once Meta approves your nonprofit, the integration will start working automatically.
Can supporters share our campaign too?
Yes. When anyone (staff, volunteers, or donors) shares your campaign link on Facebook or Instagram Stories, it will display with the Donate button, campaign image, and progress bar (as long as Meta approves your organization).
