Storyraise makes it fun, easy, and fast to create web-based impact and donor reports. Storyraise utilizes a drag-and-drop editor in combination with custom layouts and themes. By embedding Givebutter Widgets in your digital Storyraise reports, you can seamlessly convert viewers into donors. Learn more about Storyraise →

After a Widget is embedded in your Storyraise report, viewers will see a Form or Button Widget that links to your Givebutter campaign checkout. Viewers can complete this process without being redirected to a new page. You can also embed a Goal Bar Widget to show campaign progress without including a payment element.

Before you can add a Givebutter donation button to your organization's Storyraise report, you need to sign up for a free Givebutter account.

Embedding a Widget 📝

  • Navigate to your Storyraise report builder for the relevant report.

  • Under the Blocks heading, scroll down in the list of templates, then drag and drop a Donate block into your report.

You can relocate an embedded Widget to any area in your report, but it must be added via a Donate block first.

  • After the Donate block has been added, click inside the block (but not on any text or formatting options). A section called Add Integrations will appear.

  • Click on Givebutter, and you will be prompted to enter your Widget information.

  • To find this information, go to your Givebutter dashboard, and select Campaigns in the left-hand menu.

  • On the Campaigns page, click on the campaign you'd like to embed.

If you're new to Givebutter, you must create your first campaign! You can embed any campaign type in Storyraise reports.

Finding Your Widget ID 🔍

  • In your campaign manager, click on the Sharing tab in the top navigation, then select Widgets from the sub-menu on the left side of the page.

  • Choose which type of Widget you'd like to embed. The options are:

    • Button – opens a pop-up window to complete checkout

    • Form – embeds the entire checkout flow in the report

    • Goal Bar (Progress Bar or Thermometer) – embeds a goal bar showing your campaign progress without including a donation checkout process

If you want to embed a Thermometer but you're only seeing the Progress Bar option (or vice versa), you'll need to configure the preferred format.

  • Click Embed below the type of Widget you'd like to use.

  • In the popup window, click Copy to copy the entire embed code.

Finding your Givebutter Account ID 🔍

  • On the Widgets page, click Installation, located towards the right side. In the window that appears, click I use another platform.

  • Copy the Account ID shown in the <script> text that appears. This will be included after "acct=". (Do not include "acct=". Only copy the Account ID immediately following it.

  • Paste this into the Storyraise field that asks for your Givebutter Account ID.

  • Click Add Widget to Report + to embed the Widget in Storyraise.

Positioning your Widget 📌

  • A placeholder block will appear where the Widget has been added. Storyraise will not display a preview of your Widget in the report editor – this is normal.

  • You can leave the Widget where it is or drag it to another location in your report.

  • To preview what the live Widget will look like, click Preview in the report editor.

  • When you're happy with the location of the Widget, click Done Editing, and click Publish to finalize your digital report. The Widget will be live on the published report.

FAQ 🤔

I don't see the Integrations or Givebutter options in the report editor.

This is likely because you aren't using a Donate block in your report. The integrations section will not appear unless you start with a Donate block. You can relocate the Widget once it's been added.

How do I access donations that come through my Storyraise report?

Transactions submitted via your Storyraise report Widget will appear in your Givebutter campaign like all other Givebutter transactions. You will need a fully onboarded Givebutter account to utilize this integration, and payouts are managed on your Givebutter account, not Storyraise.

Can I edit my Widget after it's been embedded in my Storyraise report?

No – if you need to edit your embedded Widget in your Storyraise report, you must delete it and add a new Widget following the steps above.

Can I add multiple Givebutter Widgets to my Storyraise report?

Yes! Because each Widget on your Givebutter account has a unique Widget ID, you can add as many Widgets as you like to any Storyraise report.

I edited my campaign on Givebutter, do I also need to update the Widget embedded in my Storyraise report?

No – Givebutter Widgets are dynamic and update automatically! You may need to refresh your Storyraise report to see any changes to your campaign, but you do not need to edit or remove your Widget to see changes to your campaign.

Other Widget installations require installation of the "library" before embedding a Widget. Do I need to install the library before adding a Widget to my Storyraise report?

No – Widgets installed in Storyraise reports do not require the library.
