Peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraisers can receive credit for donations by sharing their custom link, and any donations made will automatically be credited to them. Without using the link, donors still also have the option to assign a donation to a specific member, to ensure credit goes to the correct party. Peer-to-peer fundraising can be used on any Page or Event campaign.
If you are looking to donate to a campaign, click the Donate button in the upper-right corner of the campaign page. You do not need to join a campaign to donate!
Fundraisers are not admins and do not have campaign edit access. If you need to be added as an admin or editor, please contact an existing admin.
Ways to join a campaign as a fundraiser ➕
Receive an email invitation from the campaign organizers
Follow a direct link shared by the campaign organizers
Click the Become a fundraiser buttons on the main campaign page
This text is customizable by the organizers, and may say something else, like Join as a team member, Fundraise, or Register.
These buttons are located at the top of the campaign (on the right side, under the Donate button) and in the Team Members section.
If the campaign you'd like to join doesn't have a button for joining, you'll need to join the campaign via an email invite or a direct link shared by the organizer. Please contact the organization operating the campaign – Givebutter staff cannot add you to a campaign on behalf of the organization.
Creating a member profile 👤
Once you click the Fundraise button or link to join a campaign via a direct link, you'll be asked to create a Givebutter login.
If you already have a Givebutter login, click Sign in at the bottom of the pop-up window instead of entering new information.
Sign in or fill out the details for your login and click Sign Up.
On the next screen, you'll be prompted to select how you'd like to fundraise. These settings may vary depending on the way the campaign is set up.
Go solo – An individual fundraising page just for you.
Join a team – An individual fundraising page that also credits an existing team's total.
Start a team – An individual fundraising page that also credits a new team you start.
Depending on the option you select, you'll be prompted to add additional information, such as a goal, your story, a team name, and/or team logo. Click Join this fundraiser.
You'll be taken to your newly created team member page! You can find and manage this page anytime under Fundraising pages in your donor portal.
Make a note of the web address – that's your personalized link. Share this web address to receive credit when other people make a donation because of you!
Creating multiple fundraising pages 👪
If you need to sign up multiple fundraisers yourself, like a parent registering several children, how you do it depends on how the campaign is set up.
Registering multiple people with tickets
On campaigns that use registration fundraising with tickets, you can register multiple people in the same checkout. Choose a ticket for each person you're registering, and a separate fundraising page is created for each one. You can manage all of these pages under your own login in your donor portal.
Campaigns using a minimum donation for registration fundraising (and campaigns using P2P without registration fundraising) allow one registration per checkout. To register more than one person, complete a separate checkout for each, using a different email address each time.
Using multiple email addresses
Each email address can only be used to sign up for one fundraising page on a campaign. If you have access to multiple email addresses (such as work and personal, or parent 1 and parent 2), you can use a different one for each fundraiser.
Using the same email address
To sign up for multiple fundraising pages using the same email, try this trick!
First profile – use your email address as normal, ie. example@gmail.com
Second profile – add "+1" before the @ symbol, ie. example+1@gmail.com
Third profile – add "+2" before the @ symbol, ie. example+2@gmail.com
Emails sent to [email protected] and [email protected] will all go to the parent email address of [email protected]. You can also use words instead of numbers after the "+". For example, [email protected] and [email protected] will both forward emails to [email protected].
Please note that this works for Gmail addresses but may not work with other email providers. Test at your own discretion!
Using this "+1" trick allows you to register the same email address multiple times, as our system recognizes them as separate logins.
