To celebrate the changemakers who use Givebutter to make the world a better place, we're matching 1% of eligible online donations raised by verified nonprofits this Giving Tuesday (December 1, 2026). There's no application, and you don't need a special campaign. You can visit our website for all things Giving Tuesday, or read on for key information!

To qualify, your nonprofit must be verified and have Givebutter Wallet set as your primary payout method during the Match Window. Once you're set up, you're automatically included.

Online donations successfully submitted between December 1, 2026 at 12:00 AM ET and December 2, 2026 at 5:59 AM ET (the "Match Window") qualify. The Match Window is set in ET for all accounts, regardless of your account's time zone setting, and runs until 5:59 AM ET to cover all of Giving Tuesday in Hawaii. Donations made before or after the Match Window still count toward your campaign, but they aren't matched. Donations submitted during the Match Window still qualify if they settle a day or two later.

Online donations through any Givebutter campaign type are eligible, including donation forms, fundraising pages, events, auctions, and peer-to-peer campaigns. Recurring donations processed during the Match Window also qualify. The following are not eligible:

Givebutter may adjust or recover any match paid on ineligible donations, or on transactions intended to artificially increase the match. Givebutter's Terms of Service apply.

Matches are deposited into your Givebutter Wallet starting December 11, 2026, and appear in your Wallet as "Giving Tuesday 2026 Match Reward." We'll email you the amount when it lands.

Your match is 1% of your eligible online donations made during the Match Window, not your entire campaign total. For example, if your organization raises $4,200 in qualifying online donations, you'll receive a $42 match from Givebutter.

Setting up Wallet after Giving Tuesday? If you're a verified nonprofit and didn't have Wallet set up during the Match Window, your Giving Tuesday donations may still qualify. Set up Wallet and move the donations received during the Match Window into your Wallet by December 10, 2026, and Givebutter will match 1% of those donations. Eligible organizations will receive an email from Givebutter after Giving Tuesday.

Donations that were already paid out to your bank account can't be moved back into Wallet for the match. Second Chance Matches follow the same eligibility rules and deposit schedule as all other matches.

When is Giving Tuesday 2026?

Giving Tuesday is December 1, 2026.

Do I need to apply or create a special Giving Tuesday campaign?

No. There's no application, and any new or existing Givebutter campaign works. Every verified nonprofit with Wallet as its primary payout method during the Match Window is included automatically.

How do I set Givebutter Wallet as my default payout method?

In your dashboard, go to your Finance page, and click on the Payouts tab at the top of the page. (If you have a Payouts page instead of a Finance page, you'll need to opt into single-balance payouts and sign up for Wallet first.) After you've created a Wallet account, click on the outgoing account under the Payouts heading.

Select your Wallet account (labeled with "APY Wallet rewards account") to change the default.

Do my Giving Tuesday funds have to stay in Wallet until the match arrives?

No. Your donations are yours to withdraw, transfer, or spend at any time, and it won't affect your match. Wallet just needs to stay your primary payout method until the match arrives.

What happens if I switch my payout method before the match arrives?

You may lose eligibility for the match. Keep Wallet as your primary payout method until your match lands, then change it if you'd like.

Why is my match lower than expected?

Only eligible online donations submitted during the Match Window are matched. Common reasons for a lower match include donations made before or after the Match Window, offline gifts (such as cash, checks, or outside transfers), and refunded, disputed, or failed donations.

Is the 1% match the same as the donation matching feature on my campaign?

No. The 1% match comes from Givebutter, goes directly into your Wallet, and doesn't appear on your campaign page. It's separate from our donation matching feature, which lets you display matching gifts from donors or sponsors on your campaign page.

Can I tell my donors that Givebutter will match their gift?

Yes! You're welcome to tell your donors about the 1% Giving Tuesday match.

How can I utilize Text-to-Donate for my Giving Tuesday campaign?

Follow our Text-to-Donate setup instructions for your campaign! You'll first create a unique keyword. (Get creative!) Donors will text this keyword to 53-555, and in reply, they will be sent the link to your campaign.
