Email(s) logged to Givebutter using the BCC address or forwarding address are automatically associated with the recipient's contact record. If the email recipient is not associated with an existing Givebutter contact, a new contact is created automatically. The email content and any included attachments are logged as a contact activity. Learn more about logging email correspondence in Givebutter below.

Locating your unique BBC and forwarding addresses

  • A pop-up window will display your unique BBC and Forwarding Address

  • Navigate to your email inbox and compose a new email.

  • Add the copied BCC or Forwarding address to the BCC or To line of the email.

Givebutter will look at the email recipient and compare it to existing Contact primary email addresses. If the email recipient is not associated with a Contact, Givebutter will create a new Contact for them.

Using the BCC address

When you send an email from your mail client and add the BCC address to the BCC line of the email, the email content will be automatically recorded on the contact's timeline in Givebutter.

To use the BCC address, your email must meet the following criteria:

  • The email address from which you are sending the email must be one of the following:

    • A user (Admin or Editor) on the account

Using the forwarding address

Use the forwarding address to log an email reply to the contact's timeline. If the person that sent you the original email isn't in your CRM, forwarding the message will create a contact profile.

Before you get started, make sure the forwarding feature supports your email client (see list below.)

To use the forwarding address, your email must meet the following criteria:

  • You're forwarding the individual reply email (not other parts of the email chain). The forwarded message header generated by your email client must be present.

  • The email address you're using to send the forwarded email must be one of the following:

    • A user (Admin or Editor) on the account

  • Your email server must allow external forwarding.

If your forwarded email meets the above requirements but is still not logging to Givebutter, your email client may be incompatible with Givebutter's forwarding feature.

The forwarding feature supports these email clients.

Givebutter’s forwarding feature is compatible with the following email clients:

  • Apple iPad

  • Apple iPhone

  • Apple Mail

  • Gmail

  • Google Android

  • Outlook Desktop 2010-2019

  • Outlook.com

  • Samsung Mail

  • Windows Live Mail

  • Yahoo! Mail

If your email client is not compatible with the forwarding feature, you will not be able to forward an email to a record in Givebutter.
