This guide is about editing existing information in Stripe. If you need to connect your bank account via Stripe Express for the first time, please see our guide on setting up your payout information! β
To edit the bank details or contact information added in your Stripe Express account, you'll need to head to Stripe via your Givebutter Payouts page. You can change this information at any time.

Givebutter account admins are different from Stripe account admins. There is usually only one person who is the designated admin for the Stripe account. Their phone number and email are connected to receive security codes for login purposes.
Updating your email address or phone number βοΈ
This information is used for verification codes, logins, and important updates (such as requests for more information), so please ensure that it's up to date.
In your Givebutter dashboard, click the Payouts tab in the left-hand side panel.
Only Givebutter admins have access to the Payouts page.
Click View Stripe Account.
You'll be directed to Stripe and asked to verify your identity using a 6-digit code sent to the mobile phone number added to the account.
If you don't have access to this phone number, you'll need to contact Stripe Express for account recovery assistance. Givebutter cannot reset this information because it is managed by Stripe.
Once you're logged into Stripe and you can see the dashboard, click the person/user icon in the upper right corner. This will take you to Your Account.
Under Your Account in Stripe, select the email address or phone number you'd like to change.
Enter the new information you'd like added to the account, and click Save.
Updating connected payout information π¦
In your Givebutter dashboard, click the Payouts tab in the left-hand side panel.
Only Givebutter admins have access to the Payouts page.
Click View Stripe Account.
You'll be directed to Stripe and asked to verify your identity using a 6-digit code sent to the mobile phone number added to the account.
If you don't have access to this phone number, you'll need to contact Stripe Express for account recovery assistance. Givebutter cannot reset this information because it is managed by Stripe.
Once you're logged into Stripe and you can see the dashboard, click the person/user icon in the upper right corner. This will take you to Your Account.
If your information has changed, you can update your connected bank account or debit card. Under Your Account, scroll down, and select the Givebutter account located under Payout Details. (It may be the only account listed here.)
A sidebar will open up on the right side, where you can see the current connected bank account or debit card. Click the pencil icon to edit this information or replace it with new information. You can only link one payout method at a time.
Unable to access your Stripe account β
If the previous admin for your Stripe account is no longer with your organization and you cannot access your Stripe Express account via your Givebutter dashboard, you will need to request account recovery from Stripe. You can get in touch with them at https://support.stripe.com/express/contact/email.
In the message, you'll want to let them know that the previous account holder is no longer a part of your organization, so you'll need help with account recovery, and it's best to include your Stripe ID. Unfortunately, Givebutter is not able to assist with Stripe account access β you will need to recover the account.
What is my Stripe ID? When you attempt to log into Stripe, you can find your ID in the URL. It begins with "acct_" and includes a string of letters and numbers. Stripe will need this if they are assisting with account recovery.

Who can edit payout information?
The payout account should be accessed by someone authorized to handle the finances for your organization. If thatβs not you, please ask the relevant person to edit this information.
Can I connect an international bank account?
Unfortunately not. At this time, we only support direct deposits for US bank accounts and debit cards. Record your interest in payout methods for other countries and currencies on our product roadmap!
Can I delete my bank details from Stripe?
No, you currently cannot delete your bank details entirely from this connection, but you can replace them with other information. Add a vote to the feature request to delete extra bank information.
Are there any limitations on connecting a debit card?
There is a $9,999 limit (per withdrawal) on debit card transfers. If you plan to process over $9,999 at a time, we recommend linking a bank account for uninterrupted deposits.
I don't want to connect my own payout information. How do I send funds to someone else?
You can automatically send a campaign's donations to another Givebutter account! Check out our guide on how to send funds directly to a beneficiary account.
I already have a Stripe account. Can I connect or access my existing Stripe account?
It's not currently possible to link an existing Stripe account to Givebutter. This is because the connection is only made with a Stripe account type called Stripe Express, which is not the same as a direct/regular Stripe account. Please record your interest in the ability to connect an existing payment processor account! You can also read more about connecting your payout method for the first time via Stripe Express.
My pending funds aren't showing in Stripe.
Pending funds/donations will not appear in your Stripe account until a withdrawal (Payout) has been completed in Givebutter. Your Stripe account only receives funds once a withdrawal has been initiated. It's normal for pending funds not to appear in Stripe.
