About campaign goals đŻ
A campaign goal is the publicly displayed amount you're aiming to raise on a campaign. Goals can be changed at any time, and will not affect your payouts in any way. You will need to set a goal if you want a progress bar to appear on your campaign. The types of transactions that count toward a campaign goal include:
Donations
Ticket sales
Offline transactions (check/cash, or the estimated value entered for in-kind, property, stock, or other donations)
Winning auction bids that have been paid (winning bids on in-progress auction items will not count towards a goal until they have actually been paid for)

Goal update posts đ
If you have a goal set on your Event or Page campaign, percentage announcements will automatically post to the supporter feed as you hit the fundraising milestones of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of your goal. These automatic updates cannot be turned off, but you can hide them from your supporter feed directly from the campaign page at any time. Click the three dots in the upper right corner of the update to hide a goal update post.
Setting a goal âď¸
On your dashboard, click Campaigns from the left-hand sidebar menu, then select the campaign you'd like to edit.
On the Details tab, navigate to the Goals section. Add (or edit) the number under Amount. If you already have a goal amount set, you can change it whenever you like.
Suggested goals â¨
When you create a new campaign (excluding campaigns with auctions or team fundraising), a campaign goal will be recommended, based on what campaigns like yours typically raise. The recommendation comes from public tax filings, when they're available for your organization, and from results of similar campaigns on Givebutter. Before publishing, you can:
Keep the recommended, pre-filled amount â This is the default option if you publish without editing or removing your goal.
Change it to any amount you like
Remove the goal entirely â Once you've saved your campaign without a goal, the recommendation won't appear again.
After publishing your campaign, the suggested goal prompts will no longer appear, whether you kept, changed, or removed the suggestion.
Stretch goals đ
When a campaign goal is about to be met, donations tend to slow down. If you reach 85% of your goal ahead of schedule (or when a single gift pushes the campaign past 100%), Givebutter will automatically stretch your goal up to the next amount that similar campaigns (matched by cause and size) typically aim for. You can opt out by toggling this option to the off position.
To keep momentum going, we will automatically stretch your goal up to two times (notifying admins via email), and only while you're ahead of pace. After the second stretch, the goal is yours to edit anytime, but we won't adjust it further.
Stretch goals do not affect team member goals, they only apply to the overall campaign goal. Stretch goals also do not apply to goals under $250 or over $250,000 USD.
Removing a goal â
In the same section above, delete the number from the Goal section.
Click Save!
Removing a previously set goal does not remove automatic campaign updates from your supporter feed. You will need to manually hide those if you want to remove them.
Want to remove your goal bar and the amount raised? For Page and Event campaigns, you'll also have an option to Hide money raised. You'll find this under your campaign's Settings tab, in the General section. Turn this on, and no totals will be displayed on the public page.

Can I embed a fundraising thermometer/goal bar on my external website?
Yes! You can embed a standalone progress bar on your website via a Goal Bar Widget.
Do General Donations campaigns show a goal bar?
No â General Donations do not show a progress bar, regardless of a goal being set. This is because General Donations campaigns do not get their own dedicated campaign page. General Donations live on your Landing Page or Giving Hub.
Can a campaign goal reset every month, or can I set a recurring goal?
Not currently, but please take a look at the feature request for a recurring goal, and add a vote if this is a feature you would like to be notified about in the future!
How do I get my campaign to show Complete status in my dashboard?
A campaign will display as Complete in your dashboard when the campaign has a goal, and the funds raised either meet or exceed that goal.
What if I don't meet my goal, or exceed it?
Goals do not affect payouts or your ability to accept donations in any way. You don't need to hit your goal, and your campaign does not close if you meet your goal.
